Bringing the public back into public interest debate

Concern has been raised that the Leveson Inquiry has not made sufficient effort to contact members of the public for their views on journalism ethics and regulation – especially those whose lives have been affected by unethcal practices (and not just phone hacking or surveillance by private detectives!). This is an open call to local and national voluntary sector bodies representing minority groups that they consider making a submission. If they would be interested in attending a meeting in parliament to discuss their concerns sometime later in November, they should contact shadow culture minister Helen Goodman by email <goodmanh@parliament.uk> using ‘Leveson’  in the subject line.
